Job Description

At Terabase Energy, we believe that digitalization and automation will drive the next wave of innovation and cost reduction in large-scale solar. To fully unlock the potential of this opportunity, Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform. We work alongside project developers, owners, and engineering & construction firms to support the design, optimization, and construction of huge solar projects around the world. Our team is a blend of solar-industry veterans and novices, thought-leaders, dreamers, software, electrical and mechanical engineers, coders, product managers, project managers, sales and marketing professionals. Terabase Energy is a well-funded scale-up headquartered in Berkeley, California, with several other offices around the world, with the most recent one being launched in Paris.

Our Paris office hosts our core R&D team in charge of the development of our flagship product, Construct, a B2B SaaS construction management and quality control platform designed from the ground up for utility-scale solar projects. By combining GIS, AI/ML, IoT, and mobile technologies, the solution drives major improvements in safety, quality, cost, and schedule for the solar industry. Construct has supported more than 16+ GW of projects from leading owners and EPCs.

The Role

We are looking for a Product Designer to support the design and delivery of product features across our mobile and web applications. This role will be an integral part of the Design team, creating consistent and scalable workflows, interaction patterns, and visual styling that bring our platform vision to life. The Product Designer will work closely with the broader Product and Engineering teams, participating in the rituals and cadence of software development, ensuring that screens, components, and layouts are pixel-perfect, responsive, and ready for implementation. This role reports to the Director of Product for the Construct Platform.

Key Responsibilities

Design Execution

  • Explore and visualize concepts: Translate product requirements and user needs into low-fidelity sketches, storyboards, or flow diagrams to frame early ideas and test assumptions.
  • Iterate user experiences: Build wireframes and/or clickable prototypes to define user flows and resolve functional interactions.
  • Develop refined design direction: Expand concepts and prototypes into detailed UX reference designs for engineering that balance usability, visual design, and technical feasibility.
  • Deliver implementation-ready designs: Produce clear, organized design specifications and documentation for engineering handoff.

Create Ai-native design system

  • You are experienced to incorporate a set of AI-supported tools into the process (editor, coding agent, MCP/API...) to optimize and automate workflow for creating and maintaining a Design System
  • Create modular, accessible, pixel-perfect UI components with AI tools and/or Figma that are compatible with all platforms (web, mobile, etc.).
  • Produce detailed design specifications to guide component development, including best practices, accessibility, interaction, and visual guidelines.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure design feasibility, quality, and consistency across all products and teams.
  • Manage updates and ongoing improvements to the Design System in line with requirements and constraints.
  • Support product and tech teams in adopting and using the Design System.

Collaboration & Workflows

  • Collaborate with the Senior Product Designer and Product Owners to understand design requirements, scope, and priorities.
  • Partner with Product Managers to ensure features align with the broader product ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Front-end Engineering to ensure design implementation matches intent.
  • Participate in team rituals such as sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives.

Quality & Consistency

  • Ensure visual and interaction quality and consistency across all product surfaces.
  • Contribute to and maintain shared component libraries and design systems to ensure a cohesive user experience across products.
  • Conduct basic QA on implemented designs to ensure fidelity between design and build.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and resolve implementation questions.
  • Support the creation of design guidelines and internal documentation.

What Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)

  • Product features are launched with intuitive, consistent, and high-quality designs that elevate the overall user experience.
  • Design handoffs to engineering are seamless, with minimal rework and clear documentation.
  • The shared design system and component library are actively maintained.
  • Collaboration with Product and Engineering is proactive, efficient, and grounded in shared understanding of goals and user needs.

Requirements

  • Have 3+ years of experience as a Product Designer, UI Designer, UX Designer or similar role.
  • You are a crafter with strong contributions to design system.
  • Strong foundation in design production for mobile and web applications.
  • Proficiency in Figma (Auto-layout, Variables, Libraries...) and design system tools (Storybook...)
  • An excellent grasp of Design Tokens and technical requirements (HTML/CSS, React, etc.)
  • For you, accessibility (WCAG) is a must, not an option.
  • Basic understanding of front-end development principles to support clear design handoffs.
  • Have a strong portfolio demonstrating complex UI solutions ideally with reference on topics like GIS tools, IoT/HW, multi-tenant SaaS ...
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within established design systems.
  • Strong communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with designers, PMs, and engineers.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS, mapping, construction tech, or similar industries is required.
  • Familiar with an international environment and fluent in English.
