Job Description
As our Lead Civil Engineer (all genders), you will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of civil engineering works for utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. You will contribute to safe, practical, and cost-efficient project execution across all project phases. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, and contractors, you will ensure high-quality engineering solutions while supporting continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
What you will do
- Lead and coordinate civil engineering activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and BESS.
- Prepare civil engineering designs and documentation, including earthworks, access roads, and platform layouts.
- Design and assess drainage systems, stormwater management solutions, erosion control measures, and basic flood risk.
- Review geotechnical and site investigation data, identifying civil risks and defining mitigation measures.
- Assess foundation concepts, including pile foundations, shallow foundations, and deep foundations.
- Prepare technical specifications, scopes of work, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Review drawings and contractor submissions to ensure constructability, compliance, cost efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors during both design and construction phases.
- Support construction activities by reviewing method statements and assisting in resolving technical issues on site.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal engineering standards, tools, and templates.
- Support site feasibility studies, due diligence processes, value engineering, and cost optimization initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- You have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in civil engineering, particularly in earthworks, grading, drainage, roads, or similar, ideally within utility-scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
- You are proactive and take ownership of your responsibilities.
- You are proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- You have a solid understanding of geotechnical, hydrological, and civil design principles and standards.
- You have strong technical writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- You communicate effectively in English; additional languages such as German, Spanish, French, or Italian are a plus.
- You are detail-oriented and demonstrate sound practical engineering judgement, with a strong interest in renewable energy projects.
- Experience with GIS and hydrodynamic modelling tools (e.g. HEC-RAS) is considered an advantage.
