Approximately 30 employees (source: linkedin.com). No public revenue data for 2023 or later.

What They Do

Lifepowr is a private energy technology company focused on software for virtual power plants, aiming to optimize decentralized energy sources such as solar panels, batteries, and EV chargers. Their main platform, FlexiO, utilizes AI-driven forecasts and dynamic control to integrate and optimize behind-the-meter assets. This enables them to orchestrate energy flow in real-time, reduce costs by addressing factors like distribution costs and taxes, and monetize flexibility through market participation (source: lifepowr.io). Target markets include households, businesses, energy suppliers, and resellers, primarily in Europe.

Projects & Track Record

While there are no specific completed projects documented with names or locations, FlexiO has been deployed as a demo client and is now being commercially scaled. Users such as systems monitored by Ensys in Kapellen, Belgium, have reported significant cost savings and compensation for grid participation. The focus is on expanding virtual power plant technology across Europe, connecting thousands of decentralized assets (source: eu-startups.com). No major projects or partnerships with specific names have been announced, but the geographical presence is concentrated in Belgium with ambitions for expansion in Europe.

Recent Developments

In November 2025, Lifepowr announced a funding round of €5.65 million to further develop its virtual power plant technology in Europe. This marks a significant milestone for the company, which has not documented any major contracts, acquisitions, or certifications in the past two years (source: techfundingnews.com). This funding will help them scale their operations and further develop their technology.

Working at Lifepowr

Lifepowr has approximately 30 employees working across various teams, including operations, product development, sales, and marketing. The company culture emphasizes values such as sustainability, innovation, dynamism, and freedom, contributing to a flexible workplace. While no specific employee benefits have been documented, the focus appears to be on a professional passion for grid stability and a good work-life balance (source: lifepowr.io). The company has no other office locations besides its headquarters in Antwerp, and recruitment efforts are primarily focused on this location.

Job Description

We are LIFEPOWR! A young and dynamic company, based in Antwerp, active in the energy transition sector and scaling up rapidly! We develop smart solutions to support the global shift to renewable energy. Our advanced algorithms deliver significant value for households, businesses, and society as a whole.

We virtually connect diverse energy sources such as batteries, electric vehicle chargers, and solar inverters to broader networks of aggregated flexible capacity, balancing energy demand and maximizing the impact of renewable energy. As a service company, we support both channel partners and energy market players, including energy suppliers, DSOs, and TSOs, with access to flexibility and smart energy management.

We are looking for

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for managing and growing our engineering team. You lead by example, drive technical excellence, and create an environment where engineers can do their best work - while ensuring delivery aligns with our product strategy and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-functional alignment between engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Project and delivery management, owning timelines, scope, and execution across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Translate product strategy into executable engineering plans, including roadmap definition and milestone tracking.
  • Establish and improve engineering processes, quality standards, and delivery practices.
  • Conduct performance reviews and feedback cycles that drive measurable individual and team improvement.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams.

What we expect

Soft Skills

  • Demonstrated success managing multi-disciplinary teams (backend, frontend, DevOps, embedded, product).
  • Close collaboration with Product to shape customer-facing roadmaps and prioritization.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage expectations at executive and stakeholder level.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and ability to adapt processes to team needs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, scale-up environment where adaptability and ownership are valued.
  • Demonstrated success in resolving interpersonal and cross-team conflicts in a constructive, outcome-focused manner.
  • Skilled at navigating competing priorities and stakeholder tensions, maintaining team focus and morale.

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on background with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with current focus on architecture, design reviews, and technical oversight rather than day-to-day coding.
  • Proven expertise with AWS, including designing scalable, secure, and cost-efficient architectures.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and high-availability architecture.
  • Experience delivering and operating cloud-native platforms with real-time data ingestion, processing, and storage.
  • Experience with microservices and API-driven architectures.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code, at a leadership/oversight level.

Nice to have

  • Background in delivering solutions in the Energy sector (e.g., IoT platforms, smart metering, renewables).
  • Ability to define and track KPIs, OKRs, and delivery metrics to ensure predictable execution.
  • Experience managing dependencies, risks, and trade-offs in complex technical programs.
  • Experience leading release planning, sprint ceremonies, and long-term roadmap planning.
  • Experience with time-series databases (e.g., TimestreamDB, QuestDB).
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, MQTT, etc.).
  • Exposure to data platforms and streaming pipelines (e.g., Spark, Flink).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) at a strategic level.
  • Experience coordinating hardware/software integration projects (embedded + cloud systems).

What we offer

  • Flexible working hours within a young, explorative, and fast-growing company.
  • A friendly and dynamic team, united by a shared mission: delivering the best energy solutions.
  • A creative environment where your commercial insights and contributions are highly valued, with room to shape strategies and make an impact.
  • The opportunity to quickly take on significant responsibility in a rapidly scaling organization.
  • A competitive compensation package, aligned with your experience, skills, and added value to the company.
