Job Description
As Category Buyer Chartering you will be responsible for a correct execution and follow up of the entire chartering process for certain segments of vessel types chartered to support DEME's activities worldwide. You will be part of a team consisting of 5 colleagues.
Your responsibilities
- Identify the requirements and chartering needs from projects across DEME's activity lines
- Develop and manage a network of reliable suppliers and subcontractors in order to facilitate DEME's chartering needs at all times and for all kinds of vessels.
- Manage the entire purchase process, i.e. request for quotation, invitation to tender, compare offers, negotiate terms and conditions and draft contracts.
- Build and manage relationships with various internal stakeholders (business units, project and tender teams, other supporting divisions) and external stakeholders (vessel owners and brokers).
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and contracts
- Ensure correct terms and conditions are applied
- Ensure standards for price competitiveness, quality, performance safety and sustainability are met by the suppliers and subcontractors, initiate corrective actions when needed
- You report to the Category Manager Chartering
Your profile
- Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration / Applied Economics, Business Engineer, Engineering, Supply Chain Management degree, nautical degree or equivalent by experience in the maritime industry in any position which has given you sufficient exposure to projects and vessels.
- good commercial and negotiation skills;
- interest and affinity for shipping and/or offshore projects altogether
- fluent in Dutch and English
- team player with a positive attitude and open mindset
- computer literate
- analytical mind
- experience with different types of Bimco charter parties is a plus however not explicitly required. In house and external training will be foreseen.
