What's your role?

You will be part of our MetOcean Team, a skilled group of professionals, formerly part of Nevis Technology and now integrated into Vaisala. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to work offshore, maintaining meteorological and oceanographical systems. You will also be maintaining and upgrading our Elements software, with the support of our software team. When not offshore, you will assist the onshore team in testing and shipping hardware, as required. In this role you will be working in close co-operation with all members of our small Aberdeen team, and you will report to the Project and Service Manager.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing maintenance, troubleshooting, surveying and commissioning of offshore meteorological and oceanographic systems to ensure compliance with CAP437 and other applicable local standards
  • Installing and configuring new weather monitoring systems in offshore environments
  • Ensuring all operations comply with ISO9001:2015 quality systems and Vaisala procedures
  • Whilst onshore, you will be testing, repairing, calibrating and shipping hardware

What will you bring?

  • Previous experience with metocean sensors or similar instrumentation would be advantageous
  • Hands-on experience in servicing, installing, or inspecting instrumentation in an industrial or offshore environment
  • Strong understanding of electronics, electrical systems, and software applications
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic engineering drawings
  • ONC/HNC qualifications in electronics, electrical, or instrumentation fields, or relevant industry experience
  • Willingness to travel offshore, primarily in the North Sea
  • Strong health and safety awareness and capability to work at heights
  • Offshore certifications such as MIST, BOSIET, CompEX, and Working at Heights are considered a plus
