Job Description

Join NKT's Marine Operations Department as a Lay Technician Supervisor for the NKT Fleet and contribute to offshore cable installation projects supporting the green transition. In this role, you oversee cable lay operations, manage technicians, and ensure safe and efficient execution onboard vessels according to project requirements. You will work closely with offshore and onshore teams in a global environment. Are you ready to take responsibility for daily offshore cable installation activities?

Coordinate lay technician teams and cable operations offshore

As Lay Technician Supervisor, you are responsible for managing daily offshore cable installation activities and ensuring proper operation and maintenance of cable lay and deck equipment. You coordinate technicians, monitor equipment performance, ensure activities are executed in line with procedures and safety standards. The role involves collaboration with vessel crew, engineers, and project teams to maintain consistent and efficient offshore operations.

Your responsibility will be to

  • Supervise lay technicians during cable loading, laying, and burial activities
  • Monitor and control cable lay equipment such as carousels and tensioners
  • Ensure maintenance, inspection, and readiness of equipment
  • Enforce safety procedures and participate in risk assessments
  • Maintain operational records and report progress and incidents

This role is offshore based on rotation periods at sea. You report to the Shift Supervisor and collaborate closely with vessel crew and multidisciplinary teams onboard and onshore.

Experienced offshore supervisor managing cable installation teams

You are an organized and capable person who coordinates tasks in dynamic offshore environments, you communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders and maintain focus on safety and operational continuity.   • Preferably a Technical diploma or vocational training in Engineering or Marine Technology
  • 5-10 years of offshore experience in cable laying operations
  • Experience with cable handling systems such as carousels and tensioners

  • Experience supervising offshore technicians and coordinating teams
