Job Description
This role has responsibility for PLSQL and Java Developer and expected to work in all areas of software engineering (design, implement, review, document, test, support) and Team Management as the demand dictates.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
- Take end-to-end ownership of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, code review, documentation, testing, and production support as per project requirements. Design, develop, and optimize PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, and triggers to support large-scale enterprise applications. Work with Oracle databases to build efficient and scalable data-driven solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Perform SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning by analyzing execution plans, AWR reports, SQL Trace, and Oracle performance statistics to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Develop and maintain Java-based backend components and contribute to application enhancements across the full technology stack.

- Work with Oracle database objects including partitions, indexes, external tables, SQL*Loader (SQLLDR), collections, and analytic functions to build scalable and high-performing database solutions.
- Participate in troubleshooting complex production issues involving Java applications, Oracle databases, and Unix/Linux environments.
- Develop or enhance Unix Shell scripts and Python Scripts to support deployment, automation, and batch processing activities.
- Develop and maintain Java-based backend components and contribute to application enhancements across the full technology stack. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to analyze requirements and contribute to the design of robust database solutions. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including data models, process flows, and system architecture for both new and existing database systems. Perform unit testing of PL/SQL code, interpret functional specifications, and provide accurate effort estimations to meet delivery timelines.
- Set up and maintain development and test environments, including database configurations and performance tuning.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of assigned tasks, with a strong focus on data integrity, performance, and scalability.
- Follow established coding standards, documentation practices, version control procedures, and participate in code reviews.
- Stay updated with the latest Oracle features, tools, and best practices, and apply them to improve development efficiency.
- Exhibit a proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and a high level of accountability and ownership in all assigned work.
Technical Competencies
- 6-8 years of hands-on experience in the development and deployment of enterprise-level, datacentric applications using Oracle technologies.
- Strong expertise in Oracle PL/SQL programming, including development of packages, procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, collections, and advanced SQL programming.
- Hands-on experience in SQL performance tuning, PL/SQL optimization, execution plan analysis, SQL Trace, and Oracle AWR/ASH report analysis.
- Experience working with Oracle partitions, analytic functions, external tables, SQL*Loader (SQLLDR), and bulk processing techniques.
- Basic understanding of Python scripting.
- Strong understanding of Oracle Database Architecture and Oracle optimizer concepts.
- Experience in building and maintaining enterprise Java applications with a focus on backend services, database integration, and multi-tier architectures. Familiarity with service-oriented architectures (SOA) and integration using web services (SOAP/REST).
Good to have
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Proficient in SQL and comfortable working with PostgreSQL or other RDBMS platforms as secondary skills
- Exposure to Java-based environments is a plus, particularly for understanding application-database interaction.
Qualifications and Additional Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualification - B.E (CS, IT, ECE), B.Tech, M.E, M.Tech, MCA.
