Job Description
Are you keen on being at the centre of operating the new energy system, running renewables and conventional assets in a smart and integrated way? Are you driven by leading teams of experts and managing complexity and business transformation? Join us as our Director Optimisation Continental & Portfolio Strategy.
The department Optimisation Continental & Portfolio Strategy is part of Business Unit (BU) Assets, whose main activities are production planning, optimisation and dispatching of all power assets and hedging of Vattenfall's overall exposure to energy markets. BU Assets commercially maximises the value of the Vattenfall and 3rd party assets, enabling fossil free living by connecting and optimising the energy system.
As Director Optimisation Continental & Portfolio Strategy you will be managing a department of around 25 FTE and approximately 12 direct reports. You will be reporting to the Senior Vice President of Business Unit Assets and become a member of the Business Unit Assets Management Team.
The department is responsible for:
- Operational daily bidding of power and ancillary services of Vattenfall's generation assets in Germany, the Netherlands and UK (covering thermal, pumped hydro power, renewable and battery assets).
- Forecasting of renewable power generation.
- Mid-term planning and valuation support for pumped storages and other assets and contracts.
- Supporting the onboarding of new assets into the portfolio as well as contributing to model and systems development.
As our Director Optimisation Continental & Portfolio Strategy you are end responsible for delivering in these areas and are pivotal in the management, coaching, recruitment, development and retention of a department of over 25 people.
You will further more be playing an important role in:
- Engaging in special projects, strategy development, and regulatory affairs.
- Contributing to the group wide hedging process as well as development of Vattenfall's portfolio strategy
The location of this position is in Hamburg.
Qualifications
Who are you?
As our ideal Director Optimisation Continental & Portfolio Strategy you of course have a relevant university degree. You have a passion for energy markets and are known for your strategic mindset and vision. As a leader, you exemplify the four pillars of the Vattenfall LEAD model: Lead Yourself, Enable People, Align Teams, and Drive Performance.
Next to this you:
- have relevant experience in energy markets, understanding strategic challenges as well as the operational reality.
- possess strong conceptual and analytical skills and an affinity for digital transformation.
- are a performance oriented leader with strong people management skills and at least 5 years of experience in managing operational business teams.
- have great cooperation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information and manage different stakeholders on all (managerial) levels.
- are fluent in English, both verbally and written. Fluency in German is a plus.
