Job Description

PowerFlex, an EDF Renewables company, is a leading national provider of intelligent onsite energy solutions that support carbon-free electrification and transportation. The Company delivers integrated solar, storage, EV charging, and microgrid systems, to businesses and organizations. As a single full-service provider, PowerFlex customizes clean technology solutions to help clients achieve their energy and sustainability goals. Through the comprehensive PowerFlex X platform, PowerFlex leverages patented smart software to control, monitor, and optimize a client's distributed energy resources to reduce cost and maximize return on investment.

As an Analyst on the Market Commercialization team, you will manage initiatives that enable PowerFlex to grow. To achieve this, you'll ideate and develop new commercial products, conduct competitive benchmarking, assist business development teams in modeling non-standard projects, assist in setting pricing for our products and services, and create tools and processes to model projects in new markets or with new products or services. You'll work closely with product management, procurement, engineering, policy, and business development teams. You will also help identify new market commercialization initiatives to achieve our growth goals.

Location

This role would be required to be a hybrid role out of our NYC office.

Responsibilities

50% - Project-Based Work

  • Assist business development team by modeling large, custom proposals and non-standard projects
  • Recommend pricing for RFPs and portfolios
  • Maintain, add features to, and support functionality of the EV charging pricing model
  • Use internal modeling tools to model the energy and financial impact of bi-directional charging, load management, grid services, and other advanced software features for customers

35% - Lead analyses which inform the development of commercial products- Research, document, and quantify use cases for new markets or solutions (e.g. grid services, bi-directional EV charging, or new financial transaction types), with a focus on EV charging and grid services

  • Develop capabilities to model projects in new markets or new transaction types
  • Develop new commercial products that bring value to our customers and differentiate PowerFlex's product offering (e.g. new pricing schemes, financing options, project scopes, service programs, or ways to decrease costs or increase revenues for EV charging hosts/customers)

15% - Market and competitive research- Build presentations that highlight the market and PowerFlex's position; make recommendations on how PowerFlex should adjust its pricing or offering

  • Gather customer feedback from Business Development teams and direct customer interactions. Take action on the findings
  • Support business development by creating new business plans and assist in identifying and executing on pilot projects
  • Coordinate with policy team to influence legislation, regulation, or incentive programs to improve existing markets or unlock new markets. Be proactive to position PowerFlex as an early entrant
  • Present on New Market Readiness company presentation series at least twice a year to inform company of new markets and products
  • Maintain competitive pricing database by seeking and acquiring competitive bids

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math, Economics, Engineering, Energy, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience in consulting, renewable energy, e-mobility, financial modeling, product development, or product management
  • Advanced financial modeling capabilities with experience building project models or Excel models from scratch required

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal & written communicator who can build clear and concise presentations to explain complicated topics in simplified ways to customers and management.
  • Comfortable reaching out to colleagues across the organization and confident in presenting solutions to peers, senior management, and customers
  • Understanding of U.S. and Canada electricity market mechanisms, particularly on rules which apply to on-site energy applications for commercial & industrial customers
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight
  • Ability to efficiently collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams
  • Comfort in ambiguous situations and constant change inherent in a fast-growing business
  • Entrepreneur's mindset with the ability to get things done quickly with loosely defined processes
  • Comfortable with a job description that evolves to solve business needs and in overcoming obstacles to achieve goals

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $38 - $47 hourly. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Working Conditions

Approximately 95% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Possibly 5% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites.
