About the role
As a Sustainability Specialist at OTC Flow, you will act as the internal expert on sustainability certification requirements and support the continued growth of our biomethane business by maintaining robust compliance processes and providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Working closely with our commercial, operations, and renewable gas teams, you will help ensure that sustainability requirements are translated into efficient and scalable business processes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the internal expert on sustainability certification schemes applicable to renewable gas and biomethane markets, with a particular focus on ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve procedures, methodologies, and controls related to sustainability compliance.
- Monitor the market and identify arbitrage opportunities on the biomethane market in Europe.
- Manage sustainability documentation and traceability systems, including:
- Sustainability Declarations (SDs)
- Proofs of Sustainability (PoS)
- Guarantees of Origin (GOs)
- Mass Balance documentation
- Coordinate and manage annual certification audits and ensure ongoing compliance throughout the year.
- Monitor developments in European renewable energy legislation and voluntary certification schemes and translate regulatory changes into internal processes.
- Support commercial teams by providing guidance on sustainability requirements and certification structures relevant to transactions.
- Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions to colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for certification bodies, auditors, and industry stakeholders.
- Participate in industry working groups and maintain active engagement with market developments within the renewable gas sector.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, compliance controls, and reporting processes.
About you
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working with ISCC EU requirements within biomethane, renewable gas, biofuels, or environmental commodities markets.
- Strong understanding of sustainability certification frameworks, traceability systems, and renewable gas supply chains.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business processes.
- Proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across commercial and operational functions.
Preferred
- Experience with additional certification schemes such as:
- ISCC PLUS
- REDcert
- RSB
- INS
- Knowledge of RED II and RED III legislation.
- Experience working within environmental commodity trading, renewable energy markets, or brokerage environments.
- Familiarity with cross-border biomethane trading and certification processes.
