At NexWafe, we are developing a pioneering process to produce silicon wafers for PV applications with fewer process steps, leading to significant reductions in production costs, energy consumption, and CO₂ emissions.

As a Process Development Engineer (m/f/d), you will have a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the commercialization of this breakthrough technology by shaping a product strategy based on market trends, customer input, and internal goals. You will define and refine a technical and cost roadmap, exploring future applications such as LEO, HJT, Tandem, and TOPCon.

Your Mission

  • Performance analysis of epitaxially grown Epi wafers in Tandem/HJT/TOPcon assembly in terms of efficiency, Voc, Isc, FF, etc. compared to Cz-grown Si wafers
  • Analyze and differentiate various failure modes of Si wafers in Soler cell configurations and trace back to the root cause related to material properties of epitaxially grown monocrystalline silicon
  • Analyze and improve material defects in epitaxially grown monocrystalline silicon wafers which leads to higher cell efficiencies
  • Along with colleagues, determine improvements in other process steps besides epitaxial deposition to improve material properties and cell efficiencies
  • Design experiments in epitaxial deposition to engineer material properties that could be enhancements compared to Cz-grown Si wafers in the manufacture of solar cells of various architectures

Your profile

  • Degree (Master preferred) in Engineering or Science, e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science
  • Experience in solar cell manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years experience in relevant field (solar cell analysis)
  • Experience in silicon-based solar cell/Module Failure Analysis
  • Fluent in English
