Job Description

As part of our dynamic growth, we are expanding our Project Management team and are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager (m/f/d) to support our European renewable energy pipeline.

About the role

As a Senior Project Manager (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the successful execution of complex renewable energy projects (PV, Wind, BESS) across Europe, from late-stage development to commercial operation. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate all project phases and stakeholders, and ensure delivery on time and within budget.

The position can be based at our headquarters in Munich or at one of our other BayWa r.e. offices in Germany.

What you will do

  • You will manage complex utility scale renewable energy projects (PV, Wind, BESS) across Europe, with a strong focus on German projects initially.
  • You will ensure timely and budget-compliant execution from late-stage development through to commercial operations.
  • You will lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams, including legal, technical, PPA, sales, financing, and permitting experts.
  • You will prepare and submit internal investment approvals and present project opportunities to senior management.
  • You will guarantee compliance with internal processes, quality standards, and risk management frameworks.
  • You will manage contracts and relationships with external advisors, contractors, service providers, and investors.
  • You will act as main point of contact for local stakeholders including landowners, municipalities, DSOs/TSOs, and other public entities.
  • You will maintain proactive risk identification and mitigation planning throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure a structured project handover to Operation and Asset Management teams.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • A degree in engineering, renewable energy, project management, or a comparable field.
  • Proven track record of managing complex renewable energy projects (ideally PV, Wind, and/or BESS) in Europe, including grid connection and permitting phases.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Experience with internal investment processes and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a wide range of external stakeholders and build long-term, trust-based relationships.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and market frameworks in at least one major European energy market; German market knowledge is a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing project conditions and steer the project through fact based decision-making.
  • Structured, organised and proactive way of working, with high level of independence and accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe as required.
