Job Description

Become a Senior Project Manager - Utility Construction at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you'll oversee complex, high visibility Transmission & Distribution projects that strengthen and expand the electric grid. The role blends technical leadership, strategic problem solving, and cross functional collaboration-including partnering with customers and internal and external stakeholders to plan and deliver equipment relocations. Responsibilities

  • Manages high impact, strategic projects effectively using project management principles, tools, and techniques under time constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions, providing direction to supporting team members.
  • Directs project initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure for core disciplines of project management (scope, schedule, and budget) independently and provides guidance/mentorship to subordinate Project Managers/Associate Project Managers.
  • Leads moderate to highly complex projects and delivers on strategic objectives by influencing stakeholders across multiple departments and exercising independent decision making, with limited consultation from leadership.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers, department/division senior and executive leadership, and other stakeholders internal and external to the company as a key consultant to provide recommendation and make critical decisions that that have broad impacts across multiple organizations.
  • Manages planning, development, and/or execution of electric transmission/distribution projects, which may include but is not limited to, wildfire, infrastructure replacement, load growth, poles, line upgrades, maintenance, or installations.
  • Drives milestones and reports on large transmission and/or distribution projects which may include designs, schedules, projects applications, compliance and safety documentation, regulatory filings, and local and state agency coordination.
  • Leads technical standards, specifications, and architecture that optimize system reliability, efficiency, capacity, resilience, and asset management.
  • Oversees technology integration efforts including new SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, digital substations, automation, and advanced grid analytics platforms.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing multi-year contract-driven projects involving large teams to coordinate with internal departments, government agencies and large customers.
  • Experience working with external and internal stakeholders on complex issues related to Law, Regulatory, Environmental, EMF, and other issues.
  • Direct accountability for forecasting, estimating, and managing overruns or true-ups within monthly and annual capital budget forecasting.
  • Experience with state, federal and special funding sources and compliance requirements.
  • Provide oversight, mentoring, training, and technical oversight to Project Managers and Project Support Staff.
  • Planning, Engineering, and/or Construction Management background with experience navigating conflicting interests, permitting, land rights, or jurisdictional constraints.

Additional Information

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
