We are looking for individuals who can help shape the future of the Energy Operations team and ensure that we are prepared for changes in the energy Industry. This is a vital role that will enable us to successfully overcome the challenges of an ever changing marketplace.

This role in a nutshell

This role involves a significant focus on team leadership and development within an analytical context. You will be responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of analytic engineers and technical specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. This includes conducting regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback, and identifying/addressing any performance gaps with corrective actions. You will also play a key role in facilitating Agile ceremonies and analyzing team performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimization, continuously driving sprint velocity and addressing missed targets.

Beyond team management, this role demands proactive coordination with the Operational Analytics Lead to map out timelines and ensure deliverables stay synced with shifting priorities. Success hinges on your ability to forecast resource needs so that the team's output remains robust and strategically aligned with long-term business objectives. The emphasis is on building a strong, technically proficient, and high-performing team capable of delivering consistent and impactful results.

You will also play a key role in facilitating Agile ceremonies and analysing team performance data to identify areas for improvement and optimisation, continuously driving sprint velocity and addressing missed targets.

Beyond team management, this role demands proactive coordination with the Operational Analytics Lead to map out timelines and ensure deliverables stay synced with shifting priorities. Success hinges on your ability to forecast resource needs so that the team's output remains robust and strategically aligned with long-term business objectives. This will all be underpinned by your own data expertise and capability of delivering consistent and impactful results.

Your key outcomes will be

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts and technical specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth
  • Attend and facilitate Agile ceremonies
  • Ensure robust documentation across delivery, including JIRA & Confluence
  • Analyse team performance data to identify areas of improvements and optimisation
  • Identify and address any performance gaps, implementing corrective actions and improvement plans
  • Continuous drive of sprint velocity in team, proactively identifying where targets are missed and working with team to get back on track
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to the team
  • Lead the prioritisation and scheduling of all team deliverables, proactively identifying potential bottlenecks and re-allocating resources to maintain momentum across competing objectives
  • Work closely with Operational Analytics Lead to ensure work meets all requirements, including BAU initiatives and incident support
  • Support enforcing team best practices e.g. coding standards and technical documentation
  • Foster a culture of feedback by creating an environment where giving and receiving feedback is encouraged and valued

  • Have a track record of coaching and mentoring, fostering growth and career development.
  • Ownership of end-to-end project planning, including the creation of detailed delivery schedules and milestones that ensure high-quality outputs while remaining responsive to shifting business priorities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write, review, and interpret queries to support technical team development and maintain high data standards.
  • Have proven experience balancing multiple priorities and dealing with change and ambiguity.
  • Resilient to change and ability to support others through varied changes.
  • Have an ambitious spirit; you'll need to be proactive and someone who is always up for a challenge.
  • Are an excellent communicator. Your communication skills give you the ability to convey your ideas effectively, tailoring the communication to audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient experience using JIRA for Agile ceremonies and the ability to utilize built-in reporting to monitor progress.

We'll pay you between £45,000 and £50,000 , depending on your specific skills and experience.

You'll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
