Job Description
Do you want to help shape how a leading global infrastructure manager is run-while accelerating the energy transition at scale? This role sits at the intersection of strategy, private equity and execution, with direct exposure to CIP's top management and decision-making forums. If you are a high-performing, impact-driven generalist who thrives in a high-pace environment, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' Strategy Team offers a rare opportunity to drive meaningful outcomes and build a long-term career platform.
The Strategy Team and the role
The Strategy department reports directly to CIP's CIO, Mads Skovsgaard Andersen, and works closely with CIP's Executive Committee, Board and original founders. Established four years ago, the department has gained strong momentum with increasing responsibilities. As CIP continues to scale its global platform, we are now looking to further strengthen the team.
Today, the team consists of a Director of Strategy, 8 Strategy team members and an Analyst. Hence, a potential candidate would become part of a 9-person team. The Strategy Team is highly driven and international, with backgrounds from management consulting, private equity, investment banking, venture capital, and renewables. Becoming part of the Strategy Team means joining a tight-knit team that balances a focus on being ambitious and creating impact while creating a genuinely fun, supportive, and social work environment.
In close collaboration with CIP's top management, the Strategy Team is responsible for formulating and orchestrating the execution of CIP's Corporate Strategy, and the department's focus is based on a continuous and dynamic evaluation of the most critical strategy projects to realize CIP's 2030 EUR +100bn ambition. The Strategy unit works on these projects either in teams (i.e. in subsets of the Strategy Team) or individually, but most-often together with stakeholders from across the CIP organization and often accompanied by external advisors.
From Strategy Manager to Chief of Staff
This position is designed as an accelerated two-phase development track. You will start as a Strategy Manager in the Strategy Team and, after 6-8 months, transition into a Chief of Staff role for CIP's Executive Committee (ExCom). As Chief of Staff, you will work closely with CIP's CIO, COO and Head of IR to shape the ExCom agenda and operating cadence, drive follow-up on top priorities, and help translate strategic decisions into clear actions and measurable progress. You will also work closely with the Director of Strategy on a day-to-day basis. The role offers rare, first-hand exposure to how a leading global infrastructure manager is operated-building a strong platform for long-term career development at CIP and beyond.
The main objectives of the Strategy Team are to:
- Drive the development of CIP's Corporate Strategy, together with CIP ExCom and Board
- Own select strategic projects, often subsets of (1), incl. e.g. evaluating; product/investment avenues to pursue, positioning towards investors and competitors, or how to build a scalable company
- Support on strategic fundraising topics, e.g. evaluating; CIP's fundraising roadmap towards 2030, or how to untap growth from non-institutional customer segments
- Deliver select Chief of Staff support to CIP's Founders and ExCom (e.g. owning and developing material for select Board and Management meetings and designing workshops/offsites with the Partner group)
Working directly with senior management, the Strategy department sits at the heart of CIP and provides an opportunity to meaningfully influence the firm's direction and execution. You will gain exposure to ExCom and Board-level priorities, build a deep internal network across investment, asset management, operations and investor relations, and develop the toolkit to drive complex, cross-functional change. Combined, this creates a strong platform and career optionality for future roles across CIP.
