EDP's Global Tax Hub is looking for a skilled new team member that would play a critical role in ensuring the tax controlling, transaction structuring and optimization and strategic tax planning for EDP Group, mainly focused on transversal matters and the North American jurisdictions. Operating across multiple jurisdictions, this department navigates through complex international tax laws, manages tax risks, supports global business operations and transversal projects and drives digitalization and process optimization.
What you will do
Strategic and Transversal Projects
- Participate in M&A transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, and mergers, with a focus on tax structuring and due diligence
- Engage in cross-border tax planning initiatives
- Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of EDP Group's tax policy, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and ethical standards
- Collaborate with local tax teams in multinational projects related to corporate restructuring, operational structuring, tax optimization and risk management initiatives
- Evaluate tax contingencies and opportunities to mitigate risks and enhance value
International tax aspects
- Structure transactions to ensure tax efficiency and compliance across jurisdictions
- Conduct tax analysis of cross-border operations, including permanent establishment risks, withholding tax implications, and treaty application
Operational Tax Support and Advisory on North American platform
- Deliver tax technical support to various tax teams, business units and platforms
- Coordinate external tax advisors on advisory or compliance related tasks
- Assist with the tax reporting function (e.g., quarterly tax package, contingencies reporting, etc.), ensuring the proper connection and alignment between the local tax teams and Global Tax Hub
- Coordinate tax-related workstreams and take part of cross-platform tax related collaborative projects
What are we looking for
- Economics, business or tax degree
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in corporate tax, with international tax exposure
- Past exposure to North American tax matters is a plus
- Advanced or proficiency level of written and spoken English
- Well-rounded MS Office computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Hands-on, open and creative
- Autodidactic self-sufficient, and autonomy in carrying tasks
- Innovative, self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects
- Finance / accounting skills or finance / accounting savvy
- Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
- Sound organizational skills and critical sense
- Strong process improvement mindset
- Digitalization skills are a valued plus.
