As an Independent Power Producer (IPP), BlueWave develops, owns, and operates distributed generation (DG)-scale solar and battery storage projects that bring clean power directly to communities and the grid. With a proven track record and a pipeline of several gigawatts across the United States, BlueWave is helping ensure a cleaner, more reliable, and more resilient energy future.

The Project Development Co-op will support project development and permitting duties for solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The primary focus will be to create presentations for community meetings, review utility interconnection and state incentive applications, support communication processes with landowners, and research technical-related topics. Daily activities will center around project pipeline support and special projects. This includes performing research and analysis on emerging solar and energy storage technical and policy related topics.

Please note that this is a Co-op position (January 2027 through June 2027). We are seeking candidates who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and are based in the Boston area. This hybrid role requires being in the office at least three (3) days per week.

What you'll do

  • Support the development of solar and energy storage project opportunities in MA
  • Represent BlueWave within the Project Development team including interactions with engineers, contractors, landowners, permitting authorities, and customers
  • Utilize document control, GIS tools and Salesforce to control and report on project progress
  • Become familiar with all project documentation, regulatory requirements and milestones, and monitor project progress against those requirements
  • Prepare internal and external documents and presentations
  • Provide quantitative analytical support for key project development decisions
  • Assist in land-use, permitting and site control negotiations; attend meetings with local government boards and commissions
  • Assist in early project diligence, such as site design, financial modeling, etc.
  • Support BlueWave's Grid Integration team in managing the utility interconnection process for projects under management

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Energy Systems, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field
  • Preference for candidates that have at least one previous co-op or work experience in a related discipline
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative team environment while managing tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel
  • Technical exposure to or working knowledge of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • General understanding of electrical components used in solar and storage projects
  • Self‑motivated, proactive learner who can quickly ramp up in a dynamic environment
  • Creative problem‑solver with an interest in improving processes and streamlining operations
