Responsibilities
The Associate Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the UK entities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, and employee expenses. The role will also assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting for Econergy International Limited (UK) and its subsidiaries. In addition, the position will support administrative and regulatory matters in the UK, including payroll coordination (via an external provider), VAT submissions, and communication with HMRC when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchase invoices, employee expenses, credit cards, and weekly payment runs, ensuring accurate coding and timely postings.
- Prepare bank reconciliations for UK companies and support monthly reconciliations across subsidiaries.
- Maintain and review vendor master data and approve new vendors across the group.
- Review vendor postings and bookkeeping to ensure AP balances and open items are accurate and reconciled.
- Monitor compliance with the group chart of accounts guidelines.
- Coordinate intercompany management charges between the UK entity and its subsidiaries.
- Process sales invoices and support collection activities for revenue-generating entities.
- Support month-end closing, including preparation of working papers, prepayments, fixed assets, and journal entries.
- Prepare and submit UK VAT returns and assist with related queries from HMRC.
- Support group-wide finance improvement initiatives, including system enhancements and process improvements.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a multi-entity, multi-currency international group, including the management of intercompany transactions.
- Solid understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems, including general ledger and subledger reviews, journal postings, and foreign currency management. Experience with Priority ERP is a strong advantage.
- A relevant accounting qualification (such as AAT, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is considered a plus.
- Previous experience in the renewable energy or renewable development industry is an advantage.
