Job Description

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is the perfect place for you! We are currently looking for a motivated Intern to join our Growth Markets Fund (GMF) Investment Team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Growth Market Funds (GMF) invest in renewable energy infrastructure in high-growth middle-income markets with fundamentals for renewable development and significant impact potential. The funds target markets across South-East Asia, India, Latin America and EMEA with strong fundamentals for renewable energy infrastructure investments with a combination of high economic and demographic growth including rising household incomes leading to an accelerating electricity demand. GMF I was a USD 1bn fund which has been fully invested. The team is currently investing from its second fund, GMF II, which has a target size of USD 3bn. Our new intern will join the team that focuses on investment opportunities.

Role

CIP's Growth Markets Fund (GMF) is focused on investing in renewable energy projects and platforms across both project and platform levels, targeting select developing and fast-growing economies worldwide. Our investment team combines deep experience in development, financing, and M&A, united by a core mission: to source, structure, and deliver transformative projects-ultimately creating value from inception through exit.

As an Intern, you won't just observe-you'll play an active role across the entire deal lifecycle. From shaping investment strategies and building financial models to supporting development, construction, and divestment phases, you'll gain practical experience that matters.

Responsibilities will consist of but are not limited to

  • Presenting technical and financial data in a clear and engaging format for stakeholders
  • Supporting investment activities through financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring
  • Conducting market research and due diligence on potential investment opportunities
  • Collaborating with industrial partners and external advisors throughout the investment process
  • Engaging in a structured learning environment focused on personal and professional growth

This internship is a fixed-term opportunity at CIP's Kuala Lumpur office, offering a supportive and challenging learning environment. It is open to both local and international university students who require internship credits to graduate, with a preference for those who can commit for 6 to 12 months. Candidates can join in either intake: July/August 2026 or December/January 2027.

You

We are looking for students pursuing degrees in Economics, Business, Engineering, or related disciplines, with demonstrated experience in renewable energy investment.

  • Communicates effectively in English and thrives in team environments with attention to detail
  • Shows genuine interest in corporate finance, strategy, and M&A, with a curious and creative mindset

  • Available full-time and capable of managing their own workload with a 'can-do' attitude
