Job Description

In this working student position, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing a critical tool used to steer large renewable energy projects. By working closely with Project Managers, you'll help ensure the smooth operation of the Budget Control Tool by maintaining data quality, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting ongoing migration activities. The Budget Control Tool (BCT) is an internal tool based on Excel designed to support the planning and monitoring of project expenditures over the entire project lifecycle. It is integrated with other tools, such as the financial model and the standardized project management tool, ensuring continuous data exchange between those tools. Your work will directly improve financial transparency and efficiency across the organization. Key responsibilities include monitoring tool performance, investigating and resolving technical problems, assisting with data integrity checks, and escalating complex issues to the BCT team when needed. You will also contribute to documenting processes and creating user guides to support effective onboarding and the adoption of new functionalities.

What you will do

  • Support Project Managers in using and further developing the Budget Control Tool (BCT) which is an internal tool based on Excel designed to support the planning and monitoring of project expenditures over the entire project lifecycle.
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve technical BCT issues, including root cause analysis.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the BCT core team when required.
  • Support ongoing project migrations to BCT and handle day-to-day user support.
  • Monitor tool performance and proactively identify technical or data related issues.
  • Perform basic data integrity and plausibility checks.
  • Help document processes and create user guides to support onboarding and adoption of new features.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong interest in IT tools, data, and process optimization, ideally in a project or finance-related environment.
  • Good analytical skills and a structured, solution-oriented way of working.
  • Proactive, hands‑on support mentality.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large data structures as well as first experience with troubleshooting in Excel.
