Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. A successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in accounting coupled with the ability to develop systems and processes. The role will require discipline, flexibility, and adaptability. Key competencies include general ledger accounting, project accounting, compliance, and audits. This position is a crucial role as the liaison between the accounting/finance department and the business lines. The individual must be experienced and comfortable with GAAP and business reporting. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. We seek a highly motivated individual who can work independently and in a dynamic, team-based environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage deadlines around accounting and compliance activities, interim and year-end audit preparation, and support for special projects.
- Provide timely and accurate accounting and reporting of the financial operations of assigned business lines. This includes monthly journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Meet monthly with the business leaders to review results and operational metrics and make recommendations.
- Develop industry-specific analyses for risk management.
- Collaborate with the business teams to support efficient, timely, and accurate invoice coding and processing.
- Proactively troubleshoot coding errors and inaccurate cash deposits to support accurate financial reporting.
- Responsible for monthly journal entries, expense accruals, and GAAP adjustments.
- Understand the accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and profit margins of the various business lines.
- Prepare monthly GAAP financial statements for the company, consolidated and stand-alone.
- Prepare detailed reconciliation and support schedules for month-end close and annual audit.
- Participate in cross-functional teams designed to solve business process deficiencies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting; CPA or CMA Preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems, such as Sage Intacct, Netsuite, etc.
- Strong Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to shift priorities as necessary.
- Experience with business intelligence and reporting software, such as Workday Adaptive Planning preferred.
- Experience in the renewable energy or utility power sectors a plus.
Travel
- This is a remote position with the need to travel to Washington DC HQ from time to time for business needs.

Compensation
This position offers a base salary range of $85,000 - $120,000, an incentive plan, and a robust benefits package.
