Job Description

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and operational partner to field and corporate leadership, supporting a growing construction workforce across multiple job sites. This role is responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives while ensuring employees in the field receive exceptional support throughout the employee lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong construction or field-based industry experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. This position will report into the Senior Human Resources Business Partner and travel regularly (30%) to construction sites and field locations.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Workforce Support

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for field employees, supervisors, and project managers.
  • Provide guidance and resolution on employee relations issues, performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
  • Conduct regular job site visits to maintain visibility, build relationships, and assess workforce needs.
  • Promote a positive employee experience and foster employee engagement across field operations.

HR Business Partnership

  • Partner with operational leaders to support workforce planning, staffing strategies, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Coach managers on employee performance, leadership development, conflict resolution, and policy application.
  • Provide HR insights and recommendations to support business goals and project success.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Support recruiting efforts for field and skilled trade positions.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify workforce needs and fill critical roles.
  • Facilitate onboarding programs that ensure successful integration of new employees into field operations.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of construction industry labor practices and workforce requirements.
  • Support workplace safety initiatives in partnership with Operations and Safety teams.
  • Assist with audits, investigations, and compliance reporting as needed.

Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Support performance review processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate development opportunities for field personnel and leaders.
  • Assist with succession planning and retention strategies.

HR Operations

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Support benefits administration, leave management, and policy interpretation.
  • Analyze workforce metrics and provide reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years supporting field-based, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or similar operational environments.
  • Strong employee relations and conflict resolution experience.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Ability to travel regularly to construction sites and field locations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with employees at all organizational levels.

Preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Previous experience supporting a multi-site construction workforce.
  • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems and workforce analytics.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to construction sites and field locations as needed.
  • Ability to work in both office and construction environments.
  • Ability to walk active job sites while adhering to safety requirements.
