Job Description
The People & Culture Specialist serves as the primary People & Culture partner for assigned frontline leaders, employees, construction projects, and field operations teams. Supporting a defined client group, the role provides consultative guidance on employee relations, workforce issues, leadership effectiveness, compliance, and employee experience.
As the primary field-facing member of the People & Culture team, the Specialist regularly travels to construction sites and operational locations to build trusted relationships with leaders and employees, understand workforce challenges, and provide practical people solutions that support business performance.
The role requires fluency in both English and Spanish to effectively support frontline leaders and employees, conduct investigations, facilitate training, and communicate People & Culture programs and initiatives throughout field operations.
This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 3 days in office.
Requirements
- Field Operations Partnership
- Serve as the primary People & Culture partner for assigned construction, field operations, and business client groups.
- Maintain a regular presence at project sites and operational locations throughout the U.S.
- Build trusted relationships with frontline leaders and employees.
- Understand workforce challenges and provide practical, business-focused people solutions.
- Act as the voice of field employees and provide feedback and recommendations to People & Culture leadership.
- Frontline Leadership Support
- Coach supervisors, forepersons, superintendents, construction managers, and frontline leaders on:
- Performance management
- Attendance management
- Employee relations
- Employee engagement
- Policy interpretation and application
- Workforce planning
- Employee communications
- Support leaders in addressing employee concerns before they escalate into formal issues.
- Coach supervisors, forepersons, superintendents, construction managers, and frontline leaders on:
- Employee Relations & Investigations
- Manage routine and moderately complex employee relations matters.
- Conduct workplace investigations involving policy violations, attendance concerns, employee complaints, workplace conflict, and conduct-related issues.
- Recommend solutions and corrective actions consistent with company policies and employment laws.
- Escalate complex, high-risk, or sensitive matters to the P&C Manager.
- Support P&C Managers with more complex investigations and organizational issues.
- Talent & Workforce Support
- Support workforce planning discussions for assigned client groups.
- Assist leaders with talent identification, employee development, and retention planning.
- Support implementation of talent reviews, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational changes.
- Identify workforce trends and risks and make recommendations to leadership.
- Training & Leadership Development
- Deliver training and coaching to frontline leaders on people leadership practices.
- Facilitate training on performance management, respectful workplace expectations, investigations, compliance requirements, and company policies.
- Reinforce consistent leadership practices across field operations.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- Partner with Centers of Excellence to ensure effective delivery of People & Culture services.
- Participate in People & Culture projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote and support a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support employment compliance activities across the United States and Canada, including identifying, assessing, and escalating compliance risks and policy concerns.
Safety
- Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.
- SHRM-CP, PHR or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3+ years of Human Resources, Employee Relations, HR Generalist, or HR Advisory experience is required.
- 1+ years of experience supporting construction, field operations, manufacturing, skilled trades, or geographically dispersed workforces is required.
- 1+ years' experience conducting workplace investigation and managing employee relation matters is required.
- Ability to travel 30-50%
- A valid drivers license is required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Strong understanding of employee relations and workforce support practices.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to conduct employee interviews, investigations, coaching conversations, and training sessions in English and Spanish.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment laws.
- Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
- Ability to coach frontline leaders and influence positive outcomes.
- Strong investigation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in field environments.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Anticipated base salary range: $71,800 - $89,700
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
